Since the Spring of 2003 I have served as the young adult pastor at Timberline Church and nine70 is the young adult ministry we started. The mission of nine70 is simple and we have a blast introducing Young Adults to Jesus and watching them grow in their faith and develop the desire to share the Gospel with others. Our motto is WIN, BUILD, SEND. The name nine70 (nine – seven – oh) is significant because it represents the area code we live in (970). Our hope is to be place for Young Professionals in the 970 area code to have an opportunity to meet Jesus and share Him with others.
At nine70 we specifically target Young Professionals in Fort Collins and the surrounding community and our hope is that as we disciple Young Professionals they will turn around and reach out to and disciple college students on the campuses of Front Range Community College and Colorado State University.
In the Summer of 2011 nine70 developed a partnership with YoungLife in Northern Colorado to create opportunities for Young Adults to be involved in fulfilling the Great Commission in the lives of teenagers.
There are 3 core Scriptures that drive all we do in nine70:
Great Commandment: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:36-40)
Great Commission: “16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
Paul’s charge to Timothy: “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” (2 Timothy 2:2)
